Finished Project

I thought you might like to see the finished product all hung up and doing its job!

The mood board is positively delightful and the white board is already helping to organize my days. I am fortunate enough to have my office at home and this will make it even nicer.

Re-purpose Thursday

Today is Re-purpose Thursday and for my first project I decided to take a framed print that no longer matches any of my decor and re-purpose into a dry erase message board to help keep track of all my many projects throughout the week. I love starting with something that functioned one way and turning it into something else. I have so many projects in my home that had a whole different life before I got my hands on it.
I started with this print that just didn't match anymore.

After removing the backing and basically dismantling the picture from the frame I glazed the gold toned frame with a silver glaze. It took two coats to get the affect I wanted.

After that I decided to paint the matting that was still in place with a lovely taupe color called Mississippi Mudd. I also took two coats of paint and couple extra touch ups to get the coverage I wanted.

To finish up this project I attached the white board to the back of the newly glazed frame and matting. The white board I picked up was from Home Depot. I actually picked it up out of there slash bin. It is such a great resource sometimes. I can't tell you how many pieces of wood or plywood or particle board I have picked up from the slash bin that only cost me 50 cents or so.

All said and done I am pretty proud of the outcome. I already have started my list and it is helpful to just look up and there is everything I want to accomplish. Oh, and it looks great, because like my grandma always said function is fabulous but style is saying something!

Share A Random Moment

I wanted to share this painting with everyone. Its one of my favorites, not only for the colors but the saying as well. Life is to short to get caught in the details every moment of the day. Sometimes just catching the moment and appreciating it is important. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Warmer Days and Even Warmer Porches

Nothing says relax better than a porch. An area reserved for socializing, relaxing, reading, sipping on lemonade and for many sleeping. Sitting here in the throws of winter I find myself longing for a porch to sit on and sip on a little lemonade maybe with just a splash of vodka.
I hope you enjoy some of these porches that I consider inspiration for warmer thoughts and days.

Who needs a vacation away when you have someplace like this to relax and let world pass by.

The color alone inspires me to think creatively and relax.

This porch by Paula Wallace really speaks to me, it says come on in and have a seat. Creating a welcoming space can be really simple.
Start by doing a thorough cleaning of the porch. Is it debugged and swept? If it needs it put a fresh coat of paint on the trim and railings.
Depending on space you may need to limit seating to just a chair or two with a some beautiful plants hung and placed around. Plants are the icing on the cake and really add warmth and life to any space. One way or the other the big goal is to create a welcoming and relaxing space to call your own and share with all who visit.

What does your favorite porch space look like?

A Diamond in the Stuff: Primitive Apothecary Jars

A Diamond in the Stuff: Primitive Apothecary Jars: "So yesterday my internet was out. all. day. I can't tell you how many times I headed to my laptop to look something up or do research on som..."

Saw this and just had to share WOW!

My favorite little nook

I consider myself a fairly good DIYer.  I am definitely not afraid to try things...no matter the outcome. LOL!  This project is one of my favorites.  Our dining nook really turned out nice.  The table is a door that my fabulous and fellow DIYer husband literally rescued off of a barn for me.  He brought it home with great pride knowing I would come up with a use for it. The shelf (that I also built) above displays part of my collection of Wexford glass.   The seating we built ourselves and I upholstered myself.  The chandelier I found at a yard sale.  It was a candle stand that my husband added wires to so that it could function as a candelabra. We have a full house and this table can seat 8 people pretty comfortably. It really has become the hub of the household. From dinner to just hanging out there always seems to be someone seated here.   Definitely LOVE this space.

Barn hunting and a picnic one of my favorite things

A leisurely drive in pursuit of the elusive perfect "old barn".  I absolutely love days set aside for this pursuit.

Welcome to my universe....

Lost in time
This is a place for everything fabulous. A place where eating dessert first is allowed. A place where wildly whimsical musings are expected. A place for you to get lost in.......
